RAI TV Relies On Aviom For Live Variety ShowItalian Television uses A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing System (July 26, 2004)
Producing a weekly four hour live variety show viewed by millions of people around the world has its share of headaches, but thanks to Avioms A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing System, sound mixing and monitoring is not one of them.
For Marco Cunsolo, the chief audio engineer for RAI TVs Stasera pago io Revolution, monitoring and mixing a 37-member band for a live, world broadcast provides its share of challenges. However, since Cunsolo and the band members switched to Avioms Personal Monitor Mixing System, life on a world stage has become a lot easier. The Aviom Personal Monitor Mixing System allows them to distribute audio to individual band members, giving each their own personal headphone mix.
?The Aviom system has made my job easier because I only have to concentrate on just one mix, states Cunsolo. ?Before, I had to do mixes for each band member. Now, each is able to do his or her own, which is a lot less stressful for me. It enables us to set up presets too, so if I want to shut off all the instruments when the band is not playing, I can do that as well. Its really a very flexible piece of equipment that has several useful controls that make what we hear inside our headphones sound much better.
"The features of the Aviom system that I love are almost too many to list, continues Cunsolo. "The fact that I dont have to deal with a million different cords and electric interfaces really simplifies the set up. Having the musicians able to switch between all the mix busses and memory presets is a great help, especially during a long show. All these great features, plus 24-bit audio resolution and a complete lack of latency makes the Personal Monitor Mixing System the best audio monitor and mixer I have ever used.
Now in its third season, Stasera pago io Revolution, Rosario Fiorellos ?one man show features live music from its house band, musical and celebrity guests as well as comedy sketches. Fiorello was the first Italian host to create a ?Broadway like atmosphere on television. It airs every Saturday night from 9 PM until past midnight and enjoys RAIs strongest ratings among the highly coveted younger audience.
The Personal Monitor Mixing System allows the performer to create a custom monitor mix tailored to his/her individual needs. Designed for use in live performance or in the studio, the Personal Mixer gives each performer control over channel volume, grouping, pan, stereo spread and master volume. Users can save and recall up to sixteen custom mixes saved as presets in their Personal Mixer. The stereo output can be used to drive floor wedge monitors, in-the-ear monitors, headphones or spot monitors.
