QuickTime Live Kicks OffShow focuses on QuickTime's MPEG future
Pre-conference workshops were held Sunday and continue through today, including sessions covering LiveStage Pro 3.0, Cleaner 5, Final Cut Pro and QuickTime VR, among others.
The main conference starts Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., with a keynote address by Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of product marketing. The topic of his keynote has not yet been announced. Later in the day, regular sessions begin, including a session entitled, "MPEG 4 & QuickTime: A Technical Update on Client technologies."
The move toward MPEG 4 as the core beneath QuickTime is a major shift in the technology that affects anybody involved in video production or Webcasting. We were the first to bring you the news of the impending switch from proprietary to open standards in QuickTime, and, of course, we'll keep you updated on any new developments coming out of the show. (If you'd like to read more about QuickTime and MPEG 4, you can view our interview with Frank Casanova, head of QuickTime product marketing at Apple, here.)
