QuarkDMS Updated with New Web Features

New version gains XML functionality, Web import capability By Shay Moftakhar
Quark has released the second update to its QuarkDMS publishing system. QuarkDMS is a content and asset management system that handles text files, graphic files, video, audio files and other resources and provides tracking and search tools for these assets. Version 1.6 adds support for XML and provides new tools for importing existing Web sites into the system.

New XML functionality is made possible through a QuarkXTension called XSLProcessor. It makes the content of XML assets searchable by document attributes, in addition to full text search. XML attributes can be imported from XML documents directly into the appropriate attribute fields in QuarkDMS. (This is designed to allow users to integrate existing systems with QuarkDMS.)

For working with existing Web sites, QuarkDMS now uses a new module called Web Site Import. The module lets users import the content and structure of existing Web sites into QuarkDMS and automatically makes the site available for immediate preview using QuarkDMS Media Portal. It builds relations between Web site assets and maps file attributes to appropriate QuarkDMS metadata fields, according to Quark. The Web Site Import software also generates thumbnails and previews of HTML assets.

The QuarkDMS 1.6 upgrade is available at no charge to all customers who are covered by maintenance contracts. For more information, visit
