Quark Shows More of QuarkXPress 6Tables, Web output highlighted in latest previews
This time around, Quark is showing off workflow features of the new version, although additional preview material also shows some features that were not revealed earlier this month. For workflow, QuarkXPress 6 will include the ability to share attributes and information between projects using a feature called "layout spaces." With this feature, documents are defined as projects, which include a collection of layouts, including variations on a single layout, Web layouts, etc. With this method, each layout can share attributes like style sheets, colors, hyphenation settings and other parameters.
This feature will also include synchronized content for sharing text between layouts within a QuarkXPress project. This will allow users to edit in one layout while the text is updated in all other layouts in the project.
QuarkXPress 6 will also offer "easier to use" tables, including the ability to control the flow of content by linking tables or text cells. Text cells will include copyfitting and archiving functionality, and cells can be converted to a group of boxes that can then be moved, reshaped, rotated, etc. Users will also be able to define tabbing order and apply a color of "none" to cells for placing tables over graphics.
QuarkXPress 6 previews are available so far in three parts:
