Quark Demos QuarkXPress for Mac OS X

Quark 5 to run Native By Dave Nagel
Quark shared the stage with Apple CEO Steve Jobs during this morning's keynote address at the Macworld expo in New York. The company announced it will natively support Mac OS X with version 5 of its page layout package, QuarkXPress. The company has dubbed the carbonized version QuarkXPress 5.x.

For those who don't know, "carbonized" software is software that works in both OS 9 and OS X. It doesn't take advantage of all of the features of OS X, but it does offer compatibility with older and newer systems.

In a prepared statement, Quark's Jürgen Kurz said, "Quark stands strongly behind Mac OS X and we're working diligently to make QuarkXPress run natively on Apple's next generation operating system. Since a significant number of Quark customers are also Apple customers, Mac OS X is an integral part of Quark's future."

Quark did not show off anything new during its presentation other than the OS X support. For more information, visit
