Quantum's DXi6700 Deduplication Family Named Network Computing Storage Product of the YearLatest in Series of Awards Reinforces Breadth of Company's Data Protection Leadership (March 28, 2012)
SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/28/12 -- Quantum Corp. (NYSE: QTM), a proven global expert in data protection and big data management, today announced that its DXi6700 family of midrange disk backup and deduplication appliances has been named Storage Product of the Year at the 2012 Network Computing Awards in London. This is the latest in a series of top honors the company has received around the world for its DXi®-Series, Quantum vmPRO virtual machine protection and Scalar® tape automation solutions, a testament to the company's leadership in providing superior data protection offerings across technologies and environments.
The DXi6701 and DXi6702 appliances combine best-in-class performance, price-performance and scalability in an easy-to-deploy backup and deduplication solution that frees customers from having to make the compromises required by competitive offerings.
The Network Computing award is the second "Product of the Year" honor for the DXi6700, which was similarly recognized last June at the 2011 Storage Awards: The Storries VIII. In addition, today's announcement follows a string of accolades Quantum's data protection solutions have received recently, including:
- Last month, the Quantum vmPRO 4000 won the "Backup Hardware Product of the Year" award in the Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com 2011 Products of the Year competition (the DXi6700 was a finalist in this category as well).
- In December, vmPRO 4000 was named "Storage Virtualisation Product of the Year" at the 2011 Storage, Virtualisation and Cloud Computing (SVC) Awards.
- Also in December, Quantum captured the top spot overall and in all five rating categories of the Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com Quality Awards for both enterprise and midrange tape libraries.
"We are very pleased that Quantum's DXi6700 family has again been recognized as the best storage product of the year," said Robert Clark, senior vice president, Data Protection Group, Quantum. "As demonstrated by the numerous top honors we've received in recent months, no other company can match the breadth of Quantum's industry-leading data protection solutions -- disk and tape; hardware and software; physical, virtual and cloud. These offerings provide customers with tremendous flexibility and value, whether deployed individually or together as part of a storage strategy encompassing multiple sites and/or mixed environments."
The sixth annual Network Computing Awards invited industry experts and readers from Computer Networking publications to nominate companies, products or services in various categories that made a lasting impression over the year. The awards recognize the hardware, software and services which have most impressed the readers of Network Computing, the UK's longest established computer networking publication.
