Quantel Announces Senior Management ChangesgenerationQ refinement and deployment to be accelerated (December 15, 2005)
Quantel is delighted to announce the promotion of Ray Cross to the position of Chief Executive Officer. The move is part of a broad strategic initiative to accelerate the deployment of Quantels ground-breaking generationQ technology across the broadcast, post and DI industries.
?With a very healthy order book, a renewed focus on customer requirements and a significantly enhanced sales organisation, Quantel is now positioning itself to exploit its new-generation technology to the full, delivering world-class systems that meet and exceed the demands of our industrys most visionary and demanding - clients, said Cross.
As part of the initiative, Richard Taylor, formerly Chairman and Chief Executive, and Paul Kellar, R&D Director, will step down from their operational roles. Brian Paisley and Martin Mulligan will continue to lead the Broadcast and Post/DI divisions respectively.
?Richard and Paul have successfully navigated Quantel practically from its birth in the mid 70s right through to the launch of the current generationQ range of products, Cross continued. ?This is a terrific accomplishment and the company and our customers owe them a debt of gratitude for the strength of their vision. Our focus is now one hundred percent on ensuring that we deliver the full potential of generationQ technology to the widest possible market.
Originally unveiled in 2002, Quantels generationQ concept has matured into an all-encompassing product range that offers total scalability in both hardware and software across post production, digital intermediate, color correction, graphics and broadcast for multiple resolution, team-working environments. Quantels sQ server technology is now at the heart of many of the worlds leading news and sports broadcasting operations; eQ is leading the global transition towards HD/multi-resolution post production workflows; a staggering 500 movies have already been touched by iQs DI magic, and the legendary Paintbox, reborn and reinvigorated, is still the mainstay of many close-to-air broadcast graphics operations.
Quantel has been at the forefront of the use of digital technology as a creative tool for the last 30 years. Recently that experience has helped to create innovative new tools for the digital age, covering everything from terrestrial and multi-channel television to broadband internet, DVD and d-cinema.
The company has been privately owned since completing a management buyout in 2000, and employs 400 people worldwide. Headquartered in Newbury, UK Quantel has offices throughout the USA, mainland Europe, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea and Australia.
