Protesters to demonstrate outside US courthousesGrassroots group to 'occupy' courthouses across US to protest spending in federal elections
NEW YORK (AP) ' Protesters in more than 100 cities across the nation are planning to "occupy the courts" to protest a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that removed most limits on corporate and labor spending in federal elections.
The grassroots coalition of groups says it will protest outside federal courthouses in major cities Friday to mark the second anniversary of the Citizens United v. FEC ruling.
The group, which calls itself Move to Amend, says the protest will kick off petition drives to gain support for a constitutional amendment that would "ban corporate personhood." It says more than 150,000 people have already signed the "Petition to Amend."
Activists affiliated with Occupy Wall Street are joining the protest.
