Prosecutors: Call links teen to UK tourist killingProsecutors play phone call they say links Fla. teen to slaying of 2 British tourists
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) ' Prosecutors are using a recorded phone call from the jail as evidence against a teen accused in last year's slayings of two British tourists in Florida.
The garbled call was played for jurors Friday in 17-year-old Shawn Tyson's murder trial. He is heard telling a friend on the phone that "somebody said they seen me out there."
Prosecutors are also trying to link Tyson to the crime by showing he had a friend bury .22-caliber bullets in a yard. That was the same type of bullet used to shoot James Cooper and James Kouzaris last April outside a housing project.
The 25-year-old Cooper and 24-year-old Kouzaris had been drinking heavily in downtown Sarasota before they were killed.
Tyson's lawyers contend there is no credible evidence linking him to the slayings.
