Pratt Institute to Offer Mac OS X TrainingAll-Day Intensive Seminars Introduce Students to New Macintosh Operating System (November 07, 2001)
Each seminar will illustrate what makes OS X so different and explain the potential benefits and pitfalls to advanced users and beginners alike, including Mac enthusiasts, artists, designers, media creators, educators, IT professionals, project managers, and the general public.
The seminar draws upon the expertise of the staff and instructors at the Center for Continuing and Professional Studies and offers a 1:1 computer-student ratio. Each program covers everything from OS X file system, the Quartz graphics layer, font management, and Classic environment to configuration, troubleshooting, and customization of the user interface and the Dock. The Center's instructors will also introduce students to UNIX and Darwin (the core of OS X) and discuss how OS X compares to OS 9.
The seminars will be held on Tuesday, November 13; Saturday, November 17; Tuesday, December 11; and Saturday, December 15, 2001; from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Pratt Manhattan, The Puck Building, 295 Lafayette Street at Houston. Tuition is $275, and there is a registration fee of $20.
