PowerProduction Releases StoryBoard Artist for XP

Storyboard creation software now available for Windows XP (November 30, 2004)

PowerProduction Software is shipping the new StoryBoard Artist version 4 for Windows XP. StoryBoard Artist is the professional visualization software to assist creatives with turning ideas into blueprints and storyboards for film, video, animation, commercials, games, DVD and ITV projects.

StoryBoard Artist version 4s new features further assist directors, filmmakers and other media visionaries explore, plan and prototype their own ideas for media production with added motion graphics capabilities. Pre-production ideas can be presented using a combination of imaging techniques. Draw, import photos and/or composite artwork and photos with hundreds of pre-drawn characters/props/locations, which are included in StoryBoard Artist 4. Draw tools, alpha channel support and color transparency enable digital photos and artwork to be layered into storyboard frame along with the pre-rendered characters and props. Library palettes of new pre-drawn images are incorporated to make 2D and pre-rendered 3D artwork available quickly.

With the new Pan and Zoom feature, users can enliven their boards by adding intra-frame pans, tilts and zooms. The Pan and Zoom feature mimics the camera-stand setup to bring still pictures to life. Motion graphics can enhance storyboards by presenting ideas in animatic style with interframe timing and transitions, sound effects and music in the visually intuitive Timeline.

For Live Action Filmmakers, the Script Import (from screenplay software and word processing applications) gives a quick start to storyboarding scripted projects and can integrate script breakdown information. Each frame has multiple caption windows as part of the new database feature in StoryBoard Artist version 4.

For Animation and other large digital projects, the batch import, fit-to-frame/aspect commands, and import Adobe Photoshop layer features streamline large-scale image processing and handling.

For Branching Interactive projects, such as DVD and games, the linking feature allows multiple path media projects to be prototyped and tested by jumping between frames and exporting the multi-linear concept into QuickTime and Web formats.

For Paper-based presentations, print storyboards with captions and scheduling data using StoryBoard Artists elegant layout interface. Users can choose to add stylized borders and easily create custom setups for presentation.

Storyboarding digitally with StoryBoard Artist expedites the production process enabling time-saving coordination between the various stages of media development and creation. The ease of image creation and collection, along with the numerous export formats offers the possibility of information distribution via data sheets for productions crews to movie files for import into digital editing applications and non-linear editing systems. Finally a place to collect all the data and a cohesive way to present it. StoryBoard Artist is also available for MacOS X.
