Port Chester, New York Increases Parking Revenues by 40 Percent With New Parking Meters From Digital Payment Technologies

Village Replaced 350 Single-Head Meters With 29 LUKE Multi-Space Parking Pay Stations From Digital Payment Technologies, Installed and Maintained by CTR/NY (December 05, 2011)

VANCOUVER, BC -- (Marketwire) -- 12/06/11 -- Today, Digital Payment Technologies (http://www.digitalpaytech.com) (DPT) announced that the deployment of 29 solar-powered multi-space parking pay stations in the village of Port Chester, New York last October has contributed to a 40 percent increase in parking revenues. These advanced pay stations, which have been installed and maintained by CTR/NY (http://www.ctrny.com) have replaced approximately 350 single-head mechanical meters and have helped further the village's green initiatives while boosting parking revenue.

For the village's residents and visitors, this change brings benefits including multiple payment options via the acceptance of bills, coins and credit cards, and the ability to add time through any pay station, which are linked through cellular wireless connectivity. The village of Port Chester has reported an increase in revenue and an improved system for collections, including the ability to track collections and revenue online.

"The reaction to the pay stations has been very positive," said Elisa Sciarabba, Port Chester's assistant to the village manager. "Our residents and visitors have enjoyed the convenience with being able to pay with a credit or debit card, which they weren't able to do before with our previous single-head parking meters."

Added Jason La Presto, director of parking services with CTR/NY, "We're pleased with the partnership between CTR/NY, DPT and Port Chester, and are happy we could help the village implement a faster and more user-friendly solution."

Port Chester selected the LUKE multi-space pay stations from DPT via formal bid process after referencing successful DPT deployments nearby in White Plains and Scarsdale, NY. CTR/NY removed the old meters and installed the new pay stations, and will also be responsible for any ongoing maintenance with the new pay stations. The village's criteria included multi-lingual display capabilities, multiple payment options and the ability to run on solar power. The pay stations also needed to operate on both a Pay-by-Space (PBS) and Pay-and-Display (PND) model, simultaneously on the same unit, in order to serve both the needs of on-street parking and the village's many off-street parking lots.

Sciarabba says the village plans to expand the deployment with additional on-street pay stations and add the capability for consumers to pay by cell phone.
