Pooler, Reinke to Lead Cinesite Digital Restoration Division(September 19, 2001)
"Jerry Pooler and Brad Reinke are a great team," says Ruth Scovill, president and COO of Cinesite Hollywood. "They are leading an ambitious effort to leverage the most advanced digital technology to help our customers faithfully restore priceless films in their libraries to their original condition."
Pooler has been a visual effects and restoration supervisor at Cinesite since 1992. He oversaw the groundbreaking work that Cinesite did on the restoration of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that year. Pooler has subsequently supervised restoration projects for Sleeping Beauty, Fantasia 2000 and The Last Days.
His visual effects supervisor credits include The 6th Day, Deep Blue Sea and Titanic. Prior to joining Cinesite, Pooler worked in the optical department at CFI Labs. Reinke joined Cinesite in November 1999 as recruiting manager. Prior to that he owned and managed a placement agency for digital artists. Reinke studied film and art at the University of Wisconsin and worked for PDI, DreamWorks, Digital Domain and Rhythm and Hues in various roles.
"Advances in digital technology are enabling us to restore films which have incalculable financial and historical value," says Scovill. "We are working with asset protection managers at the studios and other content owners to restore films without altering the artistic intentions of the original filmmakers. We are leveraging advances in digital technology to automate processes for repairing damaged parts of films, and that is making it more affordable for asset protection managers to accelerate their initiatives."
Current restoration projects at Cinesite include All the King's Men, The Man Who Knew Too Much, To Hell and Back and To Kill a Mockingbird. With facilities in Hollywood and London, Cinesite provides a wide range of visual and physical effects, digital film mastering, digital film restoration, preservation and DVD services.
