Police: 2 women found buried in Detroit woods

Police: 2 bodies found buried in Detroit woods could be women reported abducted in February By The Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) ' Detroit police believe they've found the bodies of two women who were reported abducted nearly a month ago.

Police Chief Ralph Godbee says the bodies were unearthed Sunday in woods on Detroit's west side. Godbee says they fit the description of 18-year-old Abreeya Brown and 21-year-old Ashley Conaway.

Witnesses say the women were forced into a car on Feb. 28 outside their home in Hamtramck, an enclave surrounded by Detroit. Brown's stepfather says he exchanged gunfire with the two captors.

Godbee says the women's families have been notified of the discovery of the bodies.

Two men are already in custody for a shooting that involved the women in early February. They're charged with attempted murder in that attack but have not been charged in the disappearance of Brown and Conaway.
