Plane in Kansas City searched for explosives

Kansas City airport police search plane for explosives; no arrests made and no threat found By The Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) ' Authorities say they searched a commercial airplane for explosives after it landed in Kansas City because the airline received a "somewhat suspicious" electronic communication.

Joe Sealer, spokesman for the FBI office in Kansas City, says Delta Air Lines Inc. received the communication Friday night while the plane was bound for Kansas City from the New York area. He says he cannot elaborate on the communication or how it was received.

He says the search found "no direct threat" and no arrests were made.

The Delta flight was operated by Mercury Air. Delta officials could not immediately be reached for comment Saturday.

Kathleen Hefner, spokeswoman for the Kansas City airport, says explosive-sniffing dogs were used to search the plane. She says the 45 passengers were questioned and their baggage was searched.
