Pixologic Releases ZBrush 1.5

Update includes new 3D modeling tools By Dave Nagel
Pixologic says it will release ZBrush 1.5 today, an update to the 2.5D paint, modeling and effects tool. The new release, available simultaneously for Macintosh and Windows, will be free for current users.

According to Pixologic, ZBrush 1.5 adds new tools and enhanced functionality across the board, including the areas of painting, sculpting, texturing, materials, lighting and rendering.

Few specifics about ZBrush 1.5 were available at press time. However, one of the new features that is known is the ZSpheres modeling tool. It allows the artist to draw strokes made up of spheres in Z space that are skinned on the fly. And example of this feature can be found at
ZBrush 1.5 will be available today for $399 for macintosh and Windows. A Mac OS X version is expected later this year. The company will post update information for the software when it's released. For more information, visit
