Pixels Digital Ships Pixels 3D 4.0.2

New version fixes bugs By Dave Nagel
Pixels Digital has shipped Pixels 3D 4.0.2, the latest update to the company's 3D suite. The new version mainly addresses bugs found since the release of version 4.0.1. Pixels 3D 4.0.2 is available now for the Macintosh. The company says the Mac OS X version, when released, will be available as a free upgrade to current users.

Version 4.0.2 fixes three different crash bugs, including one involving ShaderMaker Pro and two involving PIV. Rendering one-sided now also works.

Pixels 3D 4.0 includes a completely revamped interface based on a tree-like hierarchy. It also includes several enhancements to its modeling tools, including extrude, lathe, loft, sweep, relational modeling, control over weights and degree and curves on a surface. It also includes a particle system and ShaderMaker, a system for creating procedural textures. Pixels 3D 4 also ships with an integrated, RenderMan-compliant REYES renderer, which supports micro-polygon displacement, depth of field, 3D motion blur and programmable shaders.
