PixelSquid Assets' New Price

Place 3D models in Photoshop easily with huge library. By Ko Maruyama

PixelSquid Assets' New Price
Place 3D models in Photoshop easily with huge (and growing) library.

PixelSquid is changing its subscription model, but in a good way.  While it may be true that the price per month is going up, the customizable library of options has gone up as well.  For an increase of $5/month over the current subscription cost, new users are coming to PixelSquid with about 4x the options to place 3D objects in their comps.  Even better - - if you're already an active subscriber, there's no price change - - and you know about the regularly growing library options. (* if you're new, you can get in on the old price before the change(below)).

I've done a few articles and tutorials about PixelSquid since I met the team several years ago.  As a 3D artist, I appreciate the amount of work it takes to make high quality models.  As a compositor, I understand the need for customization and 'editability' for individual images and creative changes.  PixelSquid affords both quality and some amount of creative control.

Check out some of my previous articles about PixelSquid:

If you're an Adobe Photoshop user who doesn't know how to use 3D software (or doesn't have the time to make a custom 3D model), PixelSquid is an excellent rendered 3D image resource, for everything from mockups to final delivery.  The access to different parts of the model during the composition is one of the services key strengths (see previous articles for indepth).

If you're relying on the models professionally, the $14.99 per month is an easy charge.  The increase to $19.99 seems like a steep hike (it's only $16.58/month if you subscribe by the year), but the cost of the model and customization - WITHOUT needing a 3D artist on your production list is still going to save you money, even in preproduction.

Yes, of course, there are some limitations to the models, some angles and lighting that can't be adjusted quite right.  I also wish there were some more

You can use the Free Log In for watermarked testing to see how this works, but you'll need more to get the full experience.

One of my favorite fun options with the subscription has been the ability to use the library models in photos that you've taken with your iOS device.  But I recently discovered that you can also use a (limited) series of models within Facebook as well.

While these are still free for you to use, development is still driven by subscription.

Check it out!

PixelSquid has come a long way in the almost 3 years since we launched. When we started we were focused purely on the power of our PSD files, but we quickly realized that the big breakthrough with what we offered came from the Spinners. Choosing from over 200 angles for each 3D object and then grabbing a pixel-perfect PNG or PSD (no masking required) has been a hit with designers and photographers around the globe. We also made designing with PixelSquid even easier and faster when we launched our free Photoshop plug-in.
On 2/20/18, we've got some adjustments coming to our pricing plans:
Monthly: Changing from $14.99/month to $19.99/month
Annual: Changing from $119.99/year to $199/year

Why Change Prices?
When we launched, we had just over 3,000 objects available. Today we're closing in on the 18,000 mark and we're showing no signs of slowing down in 2018. We believe that the larger catalog represents a significant increase in the value of PixelSquid. That growth has been powered by 3D artists who publish models in exchange for a share of the revenue. Our price adjustment will also allow us to pay out even more royalties to those artists, which will drive the publishing of even more content to the site.

No Change for Active Subscribers!

If you're paying for a PixelSquid subscription, you keep the price of your current subscription plan for as long as it remains active. And we're giving non-subscribers a chance to get the same deal! Subscribe before 2/20/18, and you'll have your price locked in as well. If you cancel your subscription after the price adjustments, you will only be able to re-subscribe at the new price points.
Thank you for your support. We will continue to make PixelSquid the best that it can be. If you have any questions regarding our pricing plans, don't hesitate to reach out to our support staff.
