Pinnacle To Acquire Dazzle

Company to continue support for video conversion and editing hardware By Dave Nagel
Pinnacle SYstems today announced that it's buying Dazzle, the home video division of SCM Microsystems. Dazzle is the maker of several hardware products for Macintosh and Windows, including the Hollywood Bridge line of analog to DV converters. The deal is expected to be completed in July.

Dazzle's product lineup includes a range of USB-, PCI- and FireWire-based video capture and conversion devices. These include Digital Video Creator, DVD Creation Station, Hollywood USB, Hollywood DV-Bridge, DV-Editor, Real-Time Video Producer, Fusion and Digital Video Creator. The company also makes readers for digital camera media. Pinnacle says it wants to combine Dazzle's technologies with its Studio line of digital video editing tools to expand its range of offerings for the home editing market.

Pinnacle says it will continue to sell and support Dazzle products through its network of distributors. We'll bring you more details as they become available. For more information, visit
