Pinnacle Systems Intros Commotion Pro 4.1

Commotion Pro 4.1 Delivers Tight Integration With Apple's Final Cut Pro (December 04, 2001)
Pinnacle Systems, Inc. today introduced Commotion Pro 4.1. This new version of Pinnacle Systems' award-winning integrated paint, compositing, and special effects software, available stand-alone and as a key component of Pinnacle Systems' CineWave solution, delivers tight integration with Apple's Final Cut Pro and supports Mac OS X in addition to Mac OS 9.

"The tight integration between CineWave, Commotion Pro and Final Cut Pro provides video professionals with a significantly more efficient workflow and a sophisticated level of post-production capabilities previously available to only the most exclusive facilities," said Laurin Herr VP of Content Creation Products, Professional/Broadcast Products Division at Pinnacle Systems. "The combination of Commotion Pro and Final Cut Pro empowers its users by providing smart, easy-to-use tools that deliver great performance."

"Final Cut Pro 3, now available on Mac OS X, the world's most advanced personal computer operating system, raises the bar for non-linear video editing systems once again," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "The increasing interoperability between Commotion Pro 4.1 and Final Cut Pro provides users with superior functionality, an intuitive interface and a smoother workflow for creating stunning visual effects. We're also delighted to see Commotion Pro 4.1 available on Mac OS X and to have Pinnacle Systems' commitment towards our next generation platform."

Commotion Pro 4.1 provides users of Final Cut Pro 2.0.2 and later with the ability to export a sequence from Final Cut Pro to Commotion Pro in just one step. A user can now edit their clips in Final Cut Pro and then send the project directly into Commotion Pro 4.1, which will automatically interpret the sequence. Unlike other applications that require the user to save their Final Cut Pro projects as QuickTime media to move between programs, Commotion Pro 4.1 enables the user to begin compositing immediately without having to recreate their edit decisions in Commotion Pro.

In addition to being a powerful stand-alone solution, Commotion Pro is a key component in Pinnacle Systems CineWave, the only solution that delivers support for High Definition and uncompressed real-time Standard Definition formats in Final Cut Pro. The close integration between CineWave, Commotion Pro, and Final Cut Pro provides users with significantly more efficient workflows for production.

Effects Specialist, Kurt Wiley, said, "I've found Commotion Pro not only essential for film restoration and general cleanup of features and archival footage, but its effects brushes and other tools allow unique enhancement of classic animation. Integration with Final Cut Pro is a bonus that enhances workflow and editing. In all, the combination of Final Cut Pro and Commotion Pro provides a viable, cost-effective alternative to dedicated systems at a fraction of the cost."

Commotion Pro 4.1 takes complete advantage of Mac OS X's Aqua user interface to deliver smart, elegant user interface improvements. It also provides a fully-threaded multitasking platform for Power Mac users.

Commotion Pro 4.1 and Commotion 4.1 are free software updaters, which will be available in late December for all existing Commotion Pro 4, Commotion 4, CineWave, and TARGA 3000 customers. CineWave drivers currently only support Mac OS 9. The software updaters will be available for download at . For more information call 800-401-0009.
