Pinnacle CineWave Gaining Mac OS X Support

Free update coming in July By Dave Nagel
Pinnacle Systems says it will provide full support for Apple's Mac OS X as a free upgrade to all CineWave customers. CineWave is Pinnacle's hardware system built around Apple Final Cut Pro. The upgrade will be available in July.

The new Mac OS X drivers for CineWave are being demonstrated at the NAB convention in Las Vegas this week at Pinnacle's booth, as well as Apple's. The Mac OS X version will take advantage of protected memory, preemptive multitasking, advanced memory management and symmetric multiprocessing.

CineWave is a combination of software and hardware for the macintosh G4. It includes a full version of Final Cut Pro, Pinnacle Systems Commotion Pro, Knoll Light Factory and the TARGA Cine Engine. CineWave provides non-linear editing, unlimited layering, uncompressed real-time effects, motion tracker, paint and compositing tools. It's designed to work in a wide range of environments including DV, DigiBeta, uncompressed 601, PAL, NTSC, 1080i, 1080p, 4:3 and 16:9. There are two digital tether ports for connecting to SD and HD breakout boxes.
