Pilgrim Progresses to CFX

Formerly creature technical director on Lord of the Rings By DMN Staff Writer
Jamie Pilgrim has been named to the position of Research and Development Technical Director at award winning visual effects house CFX, it was announced today by the companys President, Mark Franco. Pilgrim was most recently a Creature Technical Director on Lord of the Rings.

?Bringing an experienced professional like Jamie on board is part of our on-going commitment to the technology that will define the future of not only visual effects but of filmmaking. commented Mark Franco, CFX President.

Pilgrims work as Creature TD on Lord of the Rings included writing proprietary software for muscle systems, tree and branch generation and articulated body dynamics as well as developed the look for several key particle effects for the film. As lead animator on The Matrix, he wrote proprietary Maya plug-ins for procedural animation and animated shots through several sequences. Pilgrim has also served as Technical Assistant on Air Force One and Deperate Measures.

CFX, formerly Centropolis Effects, is a leading visual effects company servicing the film, television, commercial and interactive industries. The Companys principals are Mark Franco, President and Aaron Dem, Head of Production. Recent films the company has developed visual effects for include: Vanilla Sky, Monkey Bone K-PA, Eight-Legged Freaks, Stuart Little, The Patriot and Independence Day.
