Photoshop Path UseUsing Adobe Photoshop for AE Invigorator Source
Part 1: Type text
Using Photoshop, type the text you want to create as 3D. You don't have to use letters. There are several fonts now that have all kinds of shapes and images, including buildings, cartoons and tons of other designs already in the character set.
I'm going to use HOUSE INDUSTRIES' font House 3009. There are tons of great fonts from these guys, check 'em out. The "w" is the shape of a radiation icon.
It's text. If you want to create your own vector art for Invigorator, jump down to Part 3.
Part 2: Convert to Paths
In the pull-down menu, find Layer->Type->Create Work Path. This won't destroy the type layer, it will simply create a new layer in the paths window.
Open the paths window to find a new path created, called Work Path. [Note: This is a temporary name and should be changed to a new name immediately, for any project, regardless of useage.]
Rename the path: "RADIATION"
Part 3: Export Path
In the pull-down menus, go to File->Export->Paths to Illustrator. This will, by default export the selected path from the paths window, if you want to select a different path, use the path selection input found in the Save dialogue box. (If you've created your own vector art using the pen tool, you're probably familiar with all of these steps, but it's good to know that you can save your PSD path artwork for an AE Invigorator artist).
