Photoshop Lighting Effects, Part 3

Using Photoshop's built-in tools to create light rays By Dave Nagel
It's been quite a while since we've examined lighting effects in Adobe Photoshop 7. When last we left off, we were looking at ways of compositing reflected light onto indoor scenes. Now, as we pick it up, we move outdoors for a look at ways to create light rays and other sky lighting effects using only the built-in tools available in Photoshop.

Now, this is a fairly simple tutorial, and one that can provide a fairly wide range of lighting effects with just a few simple tweaks. For instance, we can use to to create light rays for dramatic open-sky effects, light filtered through trees or even light filtered through water. Below you'll see some examples of these.

For this particular tutorial, we'll concentrate on the sky image, through the process is almost identical with any image.
