Phil Tings Reset San Francisco Releases Beta Test of iPhone App, First in Mayoral Race(August 17, 2011)
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 17, 2011
Today, mayoral candidate Phil Ting announced the release of Reset San Franciscos iPhone app that allows users to read blogs, watch YouTube videos, connect via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and access San Francisco government resources on the go.
Phil Ting is the first candidate in the mayoral race to release a Smartphone app.
The 1.0 version of the Reset San Francisco iPhone app is just one example of how Reset San Francisco founder Phil Ting is using web 2.0 tools to empower San Franciscans to get involved in local issues. Ting is asking his supporters to test the application and send back feedback and suggestions.
Were crowdsourcing our campaign applications just as we propose to crowdsource a faster and more effective city government, Ting said.
When it comes to San Francisco city government, there should be an app for that. The City should be accessible to everyone, at all times, Phil Ting said. And with Smartphone apps, San Franciscans can have access to their government 24/7 right in their pockets. Thats what Government 2.0 and my campaign are all about.
Ting has written extensively on San Franciscos digital divide the gap between those with regular, effective access to digital technology and those without. For the one in five San Franciscans who dont have regular access to the Internet, smart phones are often their only access point.
