Production sound mixer Peter F. Kurland employed Sanken COS-11s lavalier microphones for "Walk The Line," for which he has received his first Oscar nomination. The award nomination for Sound Mixing is shared with Paul Massey and D.M. Hemphill.

"The form factor of the Sanken lavalier is excellent," Kurland explained. "They are small and easy to hide. We've also discovered that the Sanken works well for musical vocals and instruments recorded on location. It's a very low profile microphone that is simply a great combination of easy concealment and dependable sound."

"Walk the Line" has also received nominations for best Actress in a Leading Role (Reese Witherspoon), Actor in a Leading Role (Joachim Phoenix), plus Costume Design and Film Editing.
