Pentax Updates Optio Digital Camera LineNew models offer resolutions up to 5.0 megapixels
The Optio 555 is a 5.0-megapixel digital camera. The successor to the Optio 555, the new model is faster and more responsive, according to Pentax. It offers reduced lag time and is designed to be ready instantly when the camera is turned on. The Optio S4, also recently announced, is a compact digital camera with a 4.23-megapixel resolution. Pentax says the new model is about the size of a breath mint tin and offers a 3x sliding zoom lens, movie mode, voice recording, a 1.6-inch monitor and 11 MB of built-in memory.
Finally, Pentax has also introduced the Optio 33WR, a digital camera with JIS CLass 7 water resistance, allowing it to be splashed or submersed. It offers a 3.2-megapixel resolution, 2.8x zoom lens, movie mode, voice memo, built-in flash, 1.6-inch LCD monitor, optical viewfinder and a variety of shooting modes, including program, landscape, night scene, night scene portrait, surf and snow, portrait, sunset, flower, fireworks, snap (automatic pan) and macro.
All of the cameras will be previewed Sept. 15 at the PC Expo trade show in New York and will ship in October with ACDSee 5.0 software. Pricing has not yet been announced. For more information, visit http://www.pentaxusa.com.
