PennLive.com Launches New High School Sports Smartphone Apps with Advance Internet and Mobile IQ

  (August 30, 2011)

Harrisburg, PA (PRWEB) August 30, 2011

PennLive.com has launched new Android and iPhone smartphone apps covering high school sports teams throughout Central Pennsylvania.

The PennLive.com School Sports Android app and the Pennsylvania High School Sports iPhone app feature content from the number one Central Pennsylvania news, sports and information website in affiliation with The Patriot-News.

"Hundreds of thousands of viewers now look at PennLive.com on smartphones," said Patriot-News Editor David Newhouse. "With this new app, following local sports will be a fast, dynamic experience on the phone as well as online."

The apps are free for consumers to download and use. Fans are able to select and save their favorite teams to appear on the home screen of the app. Users who select favorite teams will see each teams latest game scoreboard and upcoming schedule. They also will have the option of requesting push alert notifications whenever any of their favorite teams has completed a game.

Our goal is to be the leading high school sports news and resource in Central Pennsylvania, and this new app will allow us to reach our audience wherever they are, said Ashley Zywusko, senior producer at PennLive.com. Our readers will be able to connect and engage with the high school sports content that they want to see, when they want to see it.

The apps are available for download at no charge in the iTunes App Store and the Android Market. They were developed and launched with Advance Internet and Mobile IQ. The technology development firm Mobile IQ worked with Advance Internet to provide a unique and engaging smartphone app experience for the millions of high school sports fans using Advance Internet sites, including PennLive.com the leading local source of high school sports news and information in Central Pennsylvania.

The apps will leverage Advance Internets custom-built high school sports platform, which manages news, stats, standings and schedules in 44 sports. There are 110,000 team pages for users to choose from across all Advance Internet markets. The platform generates more than 100 million page views a year.
