Pender's Music Co. to host Sing-a-bration, a Choral Sheet Music Reading Event

  (June 01, 2012)

Denton, TX (PRWEB) May 31, 2012 (PRWEB) June 01, 2012

Sing-a-bration, a multi-day choral sheet music reading event, featuring several prominent choral writers and arrangers of school and church sheet music, will begin Thursday, July 12, with two concurrent workshops of new sheet music reading sessions. Music from various publishers for both the elementary music classroom and middle school/high school choirs will be presented. On Friday, July 13, two simultaneous sessions will feature new choral sheet music at all levels provided by Hal Leonard, a leading sheet music publisher, while Saturdays events include a choreography workshop and reading session for elementary and middle school choir teachers, as well as a church music reading session for music ministers and church choir members. All of the sessions are sponsored by Penders Music Co., and will take place each day at the Lewisville (TX) Convention Center.

Sing-a-bration is a summer choral sheet music reading session and workshop event that is hosted every year by Penders Music Co. in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The annual sessions provide a venue for featured clinicians, writers, and arrangers of choral music to introduce much of the new sheet music that will be available for the upcoming school year and church seasons. The days are filled with music especially for elementary classroom music teachers, school choral directors and church music ministers.

The first day, Thursday, will feature clinicians Sally Albrecht, Greg Gilpin and Mary Lynn Lightfoot. In two separate sessions, presented round-robin style, the three composer/arrangers will introduce new music of all kinds to both elementary music teachers and middle school/high school music teachers from various publishers, including Alfred Music Publishing, Shawnee Press and Heritage Music Press.

Friday, a day in partnering with print music publisher Hal Leonard, is dubbed the Joy of Singing day. It will feature clinicians Mark Brymer, Roger Emerson, Mac Huff, John Jacobson and Cristi Cary Miller in two concurrent sessions, one for elementary classroom music and one for middle school/high school music. Various genres will be included throughout the day, including sheet music medleys, musicals, elementary classroom selections, and more.

Saturday, July 14 will include two simultaneous, yet different offerings. In one session, church music clinicians Joseph Martin, Keith Christopher and Heather Sorenson will present choral music from several publishers to music ministers and church choir members. In the other workshop, music educator and choral writer/arranger John Jacobson, known to many from his viral Double Dream Hands video on YouTube, will present a choreography workshop and reading session to elementary and middle school music teachers.

Each workshop is $50.00ea, with the exception of the John Jacobson session, which is $60.00, and online registration is required to attend. Fees include a complimentary music packet of most of the music featured, as well morning coffee, lunch and snacks each day. Pender's Music Co. will have an on-site store, where all of the sheet music presented will be on hand and available for purchase. In addition, many other bestselling choral titles, books, musicals, resources, gift items and much more will also be on display for immediate purchase.
