Parkland Chooses Active Power for Multimillion Dollar Critical Power Infrastructure DeploymentDeployment to Provide Critical Power Infrastructure to One of the Largest Hospital Projects in the United States (May 03, 2012)
AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 05/03/12 -- To help achieve its environmental sustainability goals without sacrificing availability, Parkland Health & Hospital System will deploy nearly four megawatts of Active Power's high efficiency CleanSource UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems to its new health care campus in Dallas, Texas. All UPS systems shipped in late first quarter of 2012 with ancillary equipment anticipated to ship in the second quarter of 2012.
A total of seven CleanSource UPS systems, totaling 21 flywheels, will be deployed at the new health care campus to provide 100 percent uptime to its data center and imaging centers. The systems will provide both power conditioning and bridge power in the instance of a long term utility outage.
"One of our key design goals behind the new campus is to create a sustainable community resource for Dallas County," said Lou Saksen, Parkland's senior vice president of Facilities Planning & Development. "Active Power's UPS technology enables us to deploy a forward thinking power infrastructure design with a lower carbon footprint and higher energy efficiencies versus traditional systems. These advantages though don't come at the expense of reliability which is particularly critical for a health care facility like ours."
"CleanSource UPS is well suited to provide power protection to not only the facility's data center, but also to the campus' imaging center which contains sensitive equipment," said Martin Olsen, vice president, Global Sales, at Active Power. "With this deployment, Parkland can more effectively bridge the power gap to reduce the financial impact of downtime on their operations, but more importantly provide peace of mind for physicians and patients with an inherently reliable critical power system in place."
