Paragon Software Addresses HFS+, Bridges Incompatibilities Between Windows(R) and MacParagon HFS+ for Windows Allows Full Access to Mac HFS+ File Systems From Microsoft Windows NTFS (June 23, 2009)
IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/23/09 -- Building on its already established commitment to bridge the gap between Windows and Mac operating systems, Paragon Software Group (PSG), the technology leader in innovative data security and data management solutions, is introducing the latest addition to its technology portfolio -- HFS+ for Windows.
Paragon's HFS+ for Windows enables the use of Mac-formatted partitions in Windows operating systems. Utilizing Paragon's own unique technology, the Universal File System Driver (UFSD), Paragon's HFS+ for Windows is able to extend the boundaries of Microsoft Windows' scalability and interoperability. The UFSD technology was specifically developed to provide full access (read/write, format, etc.) to volumes of the most popular file systems (NTFS, FAT, Ext2/3FS, etc.) under various platforms, (DOS, Windows, Linux, and Mac) when these file systems are not supported.
According to Tom Fedro, president of Paragon Software Group, "For the past 10 years, Paragon has been developing file system drivers focused on breaking down the barriers to cross-platform communication and providing true operating system independence for our users. HFS+ for Windows is the latest addition to our technology portfolio, and anyone needing to use Mac-formatted partitions under Windows will find it to be an indispensable tool."
Paragon's HFS+ for Windows can be installed on all versions of Windows, and eliminates the need to use complex processes on different platforms, thus reducing costs and increasing the usefulness of the user's existing investment in hardware and software.
Key Features include:
-- Read access: Gives Windows users the ability to read data from Mac (HFS+ formatted) volumes. -- Easy to install: The driver is easily installed through a user- friendly wizard. -- High performance: Transfers files at a rate similar to the native Windows NTFS file-system performance. -- No system degradation during data transfers. -- No limitation to maximum file/partition size: Must be within Windows and HFS+ limitations.
Paragon's HFS+ for Windows is now in beta testing and is available for download at http://www.paragon-software.com/home/hfs-windows. For more information on Paragon's products, please visit http://www.paragon-software.com/.
