Pantone Hexachrome Now Supports Adobe Creative Suitew version for Adobe Illustrator CS and Photoshop CS (October 11, 2004)
Pantone, Inc., the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries for over 40 years, today announced the immediate availability of a new version of HexWare, HexVector and HexImage. This new release provides PANTONE Hexachrome compatibility with the popular Adobe Creative Suite, expanding support to the leading design applications.
With the purchase of HexWare, HexVector and/or HexImage, users of Adobe Illustrator CS and Adobe Photoshop CS can now take advantage of the Hexachrome six-color process, which achieves a broader gamut of colors and more dynamic color output. For Adobe InDesign CS users, artwork and images separated by HexVector or HexImage can now easily be brought directly into the layout and design program. HexWare can be purchased at www.pantone.com and HexWare update CDs are available at no charge to registered HexWare users by calling 888-PANTONE.
Hexachrome, Pantone's six-color process with specially developed CMYK plus PANTONE Hexachrome Orange and PANTONE Hexachrome Green inks, is designed for high quality, high fidelity printing, and renders significantly more colors than commercial four-color process printing without increased costs. As one cannot work in native Hexachrome files in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, Pantone developed HexWare to simplify designing and separating files for print by providing color correction and ink density control in the Hexachrome six-color space. With Hexachrome, it is possible to reproduce rich, vibrant solid colors, realistic skin tones and elegant pastels. The Hexachrome color gamut exceeds that of CMYK, allowing the printer to achieve the same bright, vibrant colors as were originally designed on the computer monitor.
PANTONE HexVector, an Adobe Illustrator plug-in, converts vector graphics and line art to Hexachrome and provides access to specially developed PANTONE Color swatch libraries optimized for Hexachrome. PANTONE HexImage, the plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, provides color correction and soft proofing capabilities for bitmapped images and converts them into six-color Hexachrome separated DCS 2.0 files. With this new release, both HexImage and HexVector have been updated to be compatible with Adobe Illustrator CS and Adobe Photoshop CS.
"Hexachrome is the de facto standard for high quality printing and, therefore, we continually adapt it to the latest and greatest software," said Richard Herbert, president of Pantone, Inc. "Adobe Creative Suite is enjoying great popularity amongst the design and print community and we are pleased to offer these users the ability to achieve eye-popping and unique designs using HexWare."
