Pantone, ColorVision Release PrintFix

Hardware/software system designed to produce more accurate prints from inkjets By Dave Nagel
Pantone and ColorVision have released PrintFix, a hardware/software combination designed for graphic artists and digital photographers. It's available now for Mac OS X and Windows.

PrintFix is a color control system designed to produce more accurate prints from inkjet printers. PrintFix prints a calibration chart, which is read back into the computer with the USB PrintFix Patch Reader. Using the input/output data, the PrintFix software creates an ICC profile of the printer's color behavior on specific inkjet paper for generating prints that more closely match what's seen on the monitor. The software component works as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

PrintFix supports Mac OS X and Windows running Adobe Photoshop 5.5 or later. It's available for $299 through June, after which it will sell for $352. A version bundled with Spyder Pro with OptiCal is also available for $587. For more information, including a list of currently supported printers, visit or
