Panasonic Ships High Performance 37-inch Plasma Display

Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Company is shipping the TH-37PWD4UZ 37-inch professional plasma display with industry-leading performance.

With the addition of the TH-37PWD4UZ, Panasonics family of high-contrast, high-brightness informational plasma displays also includes the TH-50PHD3U 50 high-definition unit and the TH-42PWD4UY 42enhanced-definition unit. The TH-37PWD4UZ wide-screen display features a panel brightness of 650 cd/m and a contrast ratio of 3000:1, both top specifications for a 37 plasma. With its superb picture quality and performance-enhancing functions, the 37 TH-37PWD4UZ serves a wide variety of applications, especially those where space limitations prevents the use of larger displays.

The cost-effective TH-37PWD4UZ incorporates many top-of-the-line features, notably enhanced systems integration capabilities with many ATSC DTV video signal standards (including 1080p/24, 1080p/24sF), built-in image-enlargement processor for easy multi-screen (2x2 or 3x3) display configurations, and improved screen-saver functions to help protect against image retention and phosphor damage.

The TH-37PWD4UZ provides expanded computer and video signal compatibility that supports display of VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA and UXGA resolution computer graphics and DTV/HDTV signals in 480p/i, 575p, 720p, 1035i, 1080/60i, 1080/50i, and 1080/24p/24sf. It also offers an expanded range of horizontal and vertical scanning rates (fH: 15.6 -110kHz; fV: 48-120Hz).

Combining Panasonics exclusive Real Black Drive System with an Adaptive Brightness Intensifier (AI), the TH-37PWD4UZ produces an industry-leading 3000 :1 contrast ratio, resulting in blacker blacks and more crisp, vivid, colorful images. The Real Black Drive System delivers a significant improvement in black level reproduction by greatly reducing the pre-discharge emission intensity. The Adaptive Brightness Intensifier (AI) increases the number of discharge cycles for dark scenes and doubles the brightness control precision over prior systems. The TH-37PWD4UZs Asymmetrical Cell Structure is optimized to produce both high brightness and crisper whites (a combination not possible with prior systems), resulting in a substantial improved light-emitting balance of the three primary colors (red, green, blue).

With proven quality, the panel has many advanced Digital Signal Processing functions, including a precise False-Edge Predictor to produce smooth, highly-detailed natural-looking moving images, and a 3-Dimensional Progressive Scan function that elegantly converts interlace signals (1080i and 480i) into progressive signals for optimal viewing.

Ideal for updatable digital merchandising or for an array of multimedia presentation applications, this ultra-thin display can produce a palette of 16.77 million colors and offers a viewing angle of 160 degrees. The display reproduces about 1024 shades of gray, delivering smooth transitions in gradated areas.

Other innovative features include quiet operation without fans, low power consumption (295 watts), handy carrying handles, RS-232C interface for remote PC control, RCA connectors for all video inputs, improved remote control with enhanced menu functions, white scroll bar, image reversal and variable side panels for 4:3 mode; and a host of user-friendly set-up functions (on-screen display, initial input set, initial volume set, maximum volume set, fixed input selection, restricted button operation and studio white balance set, on/off timer set and restricted remote control usage).

For easy handling and display, Panasonic offers a range of optional accessories including detachable stereo speakers, wall-hanging and ceiling-hanging brackets, and fixed floor, mobile floor and pedestal stands.
