Panasonic Licenses Innotive For Touch-Panel Plasma DisplaysInnotive-Author and Innotive-Browser provide compelling, interactive experience (October 06, 2004)
Panasonic Broadcast has announced today a powerful software application for its touch-panel 42 and 50 7-Series plasma displays that places gigabytes of information at a customers fingertips.
Panasonic is teaming its 42 standard definition and high definition and 50 HD plasmas with touch panels and Innotives Author and Browser software to deliver a compelling, interactive experience ideal for an endless number of professional applications, from product or public information display in retail stores, museums and malls, to traffic and weather graphics for TV stations, to video walls for exhibits and public venues.
For this application, users create rich media content utilizing Innotive-Author, a hypermedia authoring and presentation tool. The software converts file formats (such as JPG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, CAD) into the IPQ file format, where documents, images, videos and animations can be combined into mosaics for easy navigation in 2D. IPQ is Innotive's original proprietary file format that enables streaming, partial-access, and pan and zoom in/out navigation of content. The software also provides sequencing, special effects and remote control. The IPQ format enables very effective presentations because the relevant information is right at a users fingertip on a Panasonic touch-panel plasma.
Once the content is authored, the Innotive-Browser, a fast, intuitive viewer for digital multimedia, allows the user to interact with large size high resolution image data, including video files, with the content displayed on a touch-panel Panasonic plasma. Users can rapidly view the information, smoothly moving in all directions, zooming in and out, and hyper-linking.
Innovative uses of the Panasonic touch-panel plasma/Innotive software solution include:
Kiosks the plasma serves as a free-standing, interactive kiosk containing multi-gigabytes of digital information that allows visitors to explore and learn at their own pace.
Technical manuals A corporation can convert its technical manuals into multimedia files (including instructional videos and circuit drawings) that permit in-depth training and learning.
Catalogues A retailers full catalogues can be made interactive, complete with click-on purchasing through internet connections, and the plasma can serve as a primary or secondary sales source.
