Pageflex and Objective Advantage to Present Integrated ?Lights Out Automation Solution at Graph ExpoAssociates Graphic Services (AGS) first to use integration of Pageflex? Storefront and OASymbio system for 7,000-user project (September 07, 2007)
The integration of the companies software products will be demonstrated during Graph Expo, September 9-12, 2007 at McCormick Place South in Chicago, IL, at Objective Advantage booth #4840. In addition, OA will be providing demonstrations in the Pageflex booth #4458 on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, as well as giving a theater presentation in the Pageflex booth on Monday, September 10 at 2:30 PM and Tuesday, September 11 at 1:30 PM.
The integration of Pageflex Storefront, a turn-key software product that enables customers to define, auto-generate, and manage attractive Web-to-print document customization sites, and Objective Advantages OASymbio, a print automation platform from which printers can build a tightly integrated print supply chain to enhance the relationship with their customers, gives the companies joint customers the ability to streamline their production processes.

?When we first began talks with AGS, we were already working with Pageflex on integrating Pageflex Storefront and OASymbio as OAs capabilities on the back end complemented Pageflexs capabilities on front end, said Gareth OBrien, CEO of Objective Advantage. ?Pageflex takes care of the customer facing interface once the order is received, it is passed to OASymbio, where it is automatically dispatched to the appropriate press without any user interaction needed.
An Automated Solution: How it Works
The end user visits a Pageflex Storefront site, selects a document product from the online catalog, customizes its content, specifies printing & finishing requirements, and places a print order. Pageflex Storefront then generates output and sends the output in the form of a web service call to OASymbio. OASymbio takes this data and uses it to manage the entire production process without human intervention. It first determines the appropriate workflow needed to produce the item by using ?templates that describe how a document should go through the production process and what instructions need to be given to each device along the way. Each document product in the Pageflex Storefront catalog is associated with a specific OASymbio workflow template. OASymbio can give any necessary information to a MIS system, impose or gang the job, and give the print file and printing instructions to the RIP and digital press.
Once the file is printed, OASymbio gives any finishing devices the correct instructions for cutting, folding, perforating, binding, etc. At no point in this process does a human operator need to set up instructions in a machines user interface. Throughout the process the production status (e.g. printing or shipping) can be sent back to Pageflex Storefront.
When the job is done, it is packed, and a shipping label is generated based on the shipping information (address and type of service) that was passed from Pageflex Storefront to OASymbio and on to the shipping system. The ?roundtrip process then occurs with OASymbio getting the tracking number from the shipping system and giving it to Pageflex Storefront. The person who placed the order can then return to Pageflex Storefront, look up their order, see that it was shipped, and get the tracking number.
