Pace And Alticast to Deliver First OCAP STB for U.S. Cable

Companies partner for the development of Pace's OCAP set-top box products (June 17, 2005)

Alticast has been selected by Pace Micro Technology, a leading digital set-top box provider specializing in the development of emerging technologies across all television platforms, as a technology partner for the development of Pace's OCAP set-top box products.

OCAP is the CableLabs software specification for the cable set-top OpenCable Application Platform and Pace will utilize Alticast's OCAP-based middleware solution, AltiCaptor OCAP 1.0 for its product line. The first Pace OCAP platform will debut at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo (June 14-17, 2005) on the company's new "Tahoe" dual tuner, high definition DVR set-top box.

Pace's Vice President of Technology Chris Dinallo stated, "Alticast is a global leader in OCAP and MHP (Multimedia Home Platform) deployments and the best partner for Pace's OCAP development program. Together, we are on track to have the world's first high-definition DVR OCAP-compliant platform ready for deployment on existing networks."

"Although Alticast has the world's first and only OCAP deployments in Korea, this partnership marks a major achievement for selection into the OCAP U.S. cable market with Pace," says Alticast's VP of Business Development Ron Losefsky.

Pace engineers and Alticast engineers are working together at Pace's U.S. office in Boca Raton, Fla., to have the set-tops available for a major U.S. cable operator by the end of 2005.
