PROMAX&BDA Launches Broadcast Design Road Show

Regional touring workshop offers tips, tricks, and the latest trends (June 09, 2004)

In response to the broadcast design community's challenges of tighter budgets, shorter deadlines and growing demand for great ideas, the PROMAX&BDA is launching the first-ever regional BDA Design Road Show focused on bringing practical and creative education to designers, animators, promo editors and anyone who wants to improve their design and animation skills.

Hitting the road the week after the organization's annual Conference (June 23-25 New York Hilton Hotel & Towers), the BDA Design Road Show will be presented in the same locations and dates as the PROMAX&BDA Ratings Road Show. Kicking off in Los Angeles on June 30, the BDA Design Road Show will then travel to Dallas on July 8, Chicago on July 12 and Washington, D.C. on July 14, culminating its tour in Atlanta on July 16.

In announcing the BDA Design Road Show events, Anne White, principal of TAG and chairperson of the BDA Board of Governors, said, "The Road Show concept translates the experience and knowledge of our organization to members who, due to constraints of time or money or both, can't attend our annual event. In this one day, attendees will get a concentration of practical experience and creative refueling that will help them to be more effective and efficient. It's a dedicated effort on the part of the BDA to provide its members with the insights and community support that is so vital in an era dominated by restricted budgets, faster turnaround and phenomenal creative."

As a bonus, there will also be thousands of dollars in software giveaways at each of the BDA Design Road Show locations to be won by participating attendees.

CyberMotion's Trish and Chris Meyer, the duo that created the opening and closing titles for this year's Oscar-Winning film, "Cold Mountain," will oversee the day's agenda that includes special seminars on:

* 3D Design - demonstrating how to add dimension to your design as well as manage 3D plug-ins directly inside Adobe After Effects.

* Typography - exploring the new animated Type engines in After Effects 6.5, Apple LiveType and Motion, plus several cool new plug-ins.

* Particles - recognizing that Particle systems are more than smoke and fire, this seminar examines the new Particle plug-ins for After Effects and Apple's new Motion program.
