Renegade Animation opens new offices in Oregon By Ko Maruyama
Award winning animation studio, Renegade Animation has opened an office in Portland, Oregon.  Originally from the Los Angeles area, Renegade Animation has an expanding client roster and diverse project list that will not only bring new interest to Oregon, but their new presence will give Northwest clients proximate access to them.

Portland: A friendly city, an animation city.  It's a great fit, because Renegade Animation is a friendly studio and an animation studio.  How about that.

Renegade Animation produces animation for feature films, broadcast television (including promo and advertising), DVD content and even interactive.  Known domestically and internationally, Renegade may best be known for its role in producing Cartoon Networks' animated series Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi.

Branching out to Portland, Oregon is a strong move for Renegade, as Portland is growing quickly as a  recognized hub for serious animation.  "As the long-time home of Vinton Studios (now Laika), [Portland] has developed a very strong pool of animation talent."  No doubt, Renegade's move will also help to strengthen the existing talent pool.

Directing the Portland office will be Los Angeles transplant, David Weiner.  Weiner was formerly a production manager at Renegade Animation HQ in Glendale, California (just minutes from downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Burbank).  "It's a new office, and we're looking for animators to supplement our current staff too," Weiner added.

Renegade Animation uses all types of animation pipelines, including Adobe Flash.  Executive Producer, Ashley Postlewaite notes, "Flash technology is a key element in our production pipeline.  In Portland, we expect to find additional artists with well-developed animation skills and Flash skills."

The Portland and Glendale offices are already set up to allow for seamless collaboration over the internet, and clients will be able to take advantage of two locations as it best serves them.

Renegade Animation has also announced that it will partner with Ffake on a LeapFrog project.  Ffake is a newer animation company based in Portland.

Only a few weeks in Oregon, and they're already makin' friends.  :)
