PESA To Show New Switchers at IBC2004XD Photonic Switcher, Premiere, CAT PAWS, and Cheetah displayed (July 08, 2004)
PESA Switching Systems will preview new products at IBC2004 including their new XD Photonic Switcher, the Premiere routing switcher, CAT PAWS RGBHV, and Cheetah V5 - RGBHV. The company will also have on display their PESA Routing Switchers, Distribution Amplifiers, and Conversion Cards.
New Products at IBC2004
XD Photonic Switcher
At IBC2004 PESA will make its European launch of the world's first photonic routing switcher integrated with a PESA routing control system. The system is called XD because it will switch any signal format, including video signals of any definition, and deliver completely transparent connections between any of its input fibers and output fibers without converting light to electrical signals. The new fiber optic routing switcher solution has been developed in partnership with Glimmerglass Networks.
The newest routing switcher in the PESA lineup is a small expandable system available in matrix sizes based on 8x4, 12x8, 16x8, and 16x16. Premiere is the perfect system for multimedia applications in corporate, government, sports, entertainment, and similar facilities. Premiere can handle a variety of signal types including composite, Y/C, RGB, RGBHV, and stereo audio. (Future releases will include SDI, HD-SDI, and AES/EBU.) Included in Premiere are RS232, USB, Ethernet, and PESA PRC connectivity, along with PESA Windows set-up software and a local control panel. In addition, the system is easily networked with auto-sensing configuration and can be controlled remotely on an IP network from anywhere in the world.
CAT PAWS RGBHV
With CAT-5 Cables Being shown for the first time at IBC2004, CAT PAWS are small-footprint video transmitter and receiver modules that allow distribution of high-resolution computer video signals over CAT-5/UTP twisted pair cables. Each module comes with an RJ-45 connector and an HD-15 connector for RGBHV sources and allows SXGA resolution (1280 x 1024) signals to be sent over CAT-5 cable as far as 450 ft. (137 m). CAT PAWS take advantage of existing network infrastructures, making them perfect for boardrooms, auditoriums, sports bars, presentation rooms, electronic signage, and similar applications.
Cheetah V5 - RGBHV
Over Single-Mode Fiber Cable Also new for IBC2004 is the Cheetah V5 - a family of video transmitter and receiver modules used to distribute high-resolution computer video signals over single-mode fiber optic cable. The Cheetah V5 paired with the Cheetah HD Multi-Rate Routing Switcher creates the most effective RGBHV system today, eliminating the need for large amounts of rackspace as well as the coax cabling used in conventional solutions. Where five rackframes had been required in the past, the Cheetah solution requires only one. And since the Cheetah V5 actually passes RGBHV at the standard 1.485-Gb/s data rates specified for SMPTE 292M high-definition signals, users are assured of a future-proof solution that can be used with SD and HD sources, as well as wideband signals, in the same frame. As SD and HD equipment becomes more widely available and less cost-prohibitive, the user's investment in the Cheetah is protected. The Cheetah V5 solution also provides greater signal integrity because fiber transmission is immune to noise. The system is compatible with all existing PESA control systems and control panels, or it can easily be integrated with third-party control systems such as AMX or Crestron.
Established Products on Display at IBC2004:
PESA Routing Switchers
PESA provides one of the most extensive ranges of wideband routing solutions, including everything from the LNS-8 8x2 up to the 512x512 Cheetah, supporting composite, component, RGB, RGBS, RGBHV, analog HDTV, and analog and digital audio. All systems include RS232 connections for third-party control systems.
Distribution Amplifiers and Conversion Cards
PESA's DA3100 line of distribution amplifiers and conversion cards can support analog video, analog audio, SD, and HD, as well as special distribution features such as wideband analog, telemetry or other types of sine-wave applications. The 2-RU DA3100 frame accommodates up to 10 cards while still allowing room for internal dual power supplies. Each card is configured to support one input and eight outputs. Superior performance and the flexibility of the DA3100 series provide many significant performance boosts and user features not found in other models on the market today. Two frame types are available: the VDA3100L, featuring looping inputs, and the VDA3100T with terminating inputs. In addition to the full line of standard distribution amplifiers, PESA offers both D-to-A and A-to-D cards for either audio or video conversion.
