Over Six Million Encrypted LinkedIn Passwords Leaked Online

  (June 07, 2012)

Margate, FL (PRWEB) June 07, 2012

In a recent update from Skycure Security, hackers have leaked the passwords to over six million accounts on the social networking site, LinkedIn. MyTechHelp offers simple ways to protect ones personal information while hackers post a file containing the encrypted passwords onto a Russian web forum.

Everyday, hundreds of sites are hacked and personal information is obtained, says Michael Aronowitz, Vice President of Saveology. Stealing login information from one account can easily be used to access other accounts, which can hold personal and financial information.

On June 6, it was reported by a Russian forum user he has hacked LinkedIn, uploading over six million encrypted passwords. While the passwords remain encrypted, its encrypting format could be deciphered fairly quickly.

In another report, Skycure Security discovered LinkedIns iOS mobile app has broken Apple privacy rules by collecting full meeting details from the users iOS calendar, which potentially contains sensitive information. What makes matters worse is the information is then transmitted to LinkedIns servers for long term storage and data mining.

The iPhone app can potentially download and transmit the users entire calendar entries, including meeting information, location, time, title, email addresses and detailed information from those who may be part of the event and do not have the iPhone app.

MyTechHelp provides quick and simple solutions, through its smartphone set up support, for staying connected and secure. Along with providing a variety of services for setting up and maintaining a smartphone, MyTechHelp recommends updating passwords on LinkedIn accounts, and any other personal accounts where people use the same password.
