Ore. protesters erect barricades, blocking traffic

Ignoring eviction order, Ore. protesters erect barricades; nearly 2 dozen arrested elsewhere By The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) ' Anti-Wall Street protesters in Oregon who ignored a midnight eviction order have set up makeshift barricades on both ends of a street that runs through their encampment.

The protesters in Portland used pallets and old furniture, wood debris and even a bicycle, apparently in an attempt to block traffic from coming through early Sunday. The street separates two adjacent downtown parks where crowds converged.

Some of the protesters have been arguing about the barricades, saying they want them to come down.

And Mayor Sam Adams has tweeted that the authorities will be as patient and peaceful as possible.
