Optibase To Launch Two New Products at IBC

MPEG MovieMaker 200S encoding board & MGW1100 streaming platform (July 09, 2004)

At this years IBC Conference in Amsterdam, Optibase will be officially launching two new products - a MAC-compatible MPEG-1 and -2 encoding board for content creation and video professionals and its new carrier-grade TV streaming platform for small and medium telecommunications companies.

MovieMaker 200S
Optibases new MAC-compatible MPEG MovieMaker 200S, its high-end MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoding board. Supporting Power Mac G5 and Mac OS X, this new encoding board is designed for content creation and video professionals that create content for DVDs, SVCDs and VCDs.

MPEG MovieMaker 200S complements DVD Studio Pro, Apples DVD authoring software, as well as other SVCD/VCD authoring tools. The combination of Optibases encoding platform and DVD Studio Pro improves the efficiency of the authoring environment by speeding up the encoding phase and allowing content creators to focus their efforts on the creative process.

MPEG MovieMaker 200S supports advanced encoding features including: bit-rates up to 10 Mbps, VTR control, digital inputs, real-time 5.1 Dolby Digital pass through, variable bit-rate encoding and automatic scene detection. In addition it offers live preview while encoding.

MGW 1100 enables small to medium sized TV over IP or A broadcast services, such as those required by Telcos and service providers, for applications like regional head-end or Multi Dwelling Unit TV streaming. MGW 1100 provides encoding, transcoding, transrating (rate shaping) and recasting at the edge of service providers TV distribution network or at MDU access points. It also offers low cost real time TV streaming services for service providers.

Designed for enterprises and organizations that want to deploy high-end video surveillance systems or hospitality solutions, MGW 1100 offers all the features of a sophisticated carrier-grade video head-end, in a compact easy-to-deploy rack-mount chassis - giving enterprises and organizations the best of both worlds: cost effectiveness together with low latency, top video quality, reliability and flexibility.

MGW 1100 consists of a standard 4U cPCI 2.16 chassis with 8 slots at the front and rear. It can support up to 30 TV and music channels, and is therefore an ideal solution for providers and organizations that intend to stream a relatively small number of channels.
