On Demand Printing Japan Kicks Off in April

Show focuses on digital printing education, technologies By Dave Nagel
On Demand Printing Japan 2002 is set to kick off April 3 at the Shinjuku NS Hall in Tokyo. The show, produced by CAP Ventures and Global Marketing Strategy, is now in its sixth year. It focuses exclusively on the growing digital printing and publishing market in Japan. Last year the conference drew 12,000 attendees, according to organizers. This year's show will run through April 5.

On Demand Printing Japan provides a strategic forum to demonstrate technology, showcase solutions and educate users about digital printing and publishing. Industry businesses participating in the conference include Canon, Dupro, Fuji Xerox, Hitachi Koki, Horizon, Hewlett-Packard Japan, Ifis Japan, Intercosmos, Konica Business Machine, Okura Electric Service, Ricoh, Riso, Simple Products, Uchida Techno and Xeikon Japan.

"The Japanese Print On Demand market is entering a period of rapid growth. Print On Demand Hardware revenue is expected to grow from $281 million in 2001 to over $1 billion by 2005," said Charles A. Pesko Jr., Managing Director of CAP Ventures, in a prepared statement. "The knowledge and expertise brought together at On Demand Printing Japan 2002 will help develop Japan's On Demand printing and publishing market during this time of vast expansion."

The conference program will focus on solutions to real-world problems and also provide information about new technologies. CAP Ventures will provide a the conference program, in which attendees can choose from tutorials, parallel tracks addressing the needs of print users and print providers and courses designed to help develop and implement an on demand printing strategy.
