Omnibus Japan Purchases Sledgehammer HD!O

Facilitates company?s transition to a more efficient digital workflow (September 09, 2004)

Maximum Throughput Inc. (, a provider of high performance, networked storage and media management solutions, announced today that Omnibus Japan Inc. (Omnibus Japan) has purchased a Sledgehammer HD!O Dual Link system. This marks Maximum Throughput's entry into the Japanese market as Omnibus Japan joins a growing list of marquee customers in the United States, Europe and Canada. At Omnibus Japan, the Sledgehammer HD!O solution is functioning as the high speed content server and I/O station for Discreet's lustre' system. The system was purchased through Max-T's Japanese distributor, Max-T K.K.

Kenji Sato, Chief Colorist, Technical Div., Digital Production Business Dept., Omnibus Japan, said "initially we were planning to use the Sledgehammer simply as an I/O station for lustre'. After we started to use the system, we realized we could be more productive by utilizing the system as shared storage for the entire facility, including rooms equipped with systems like inferno, Domino, and lustre. This system reduces our reliance on video tape as well as ensuring the pristine quality of our uncompressed images".

Takehiro Okajima, Omnibus Japan's General Manager, Technical Div., Digital Business Dept., said "With lustre we needed to create an efficient workflow and we determined that the Sledgehammer with its unique video, storage, content management, and networking capabilities is the perfect solution. As the file sizes of our material continue to grow (HD, 2k, 4k), and the number of workstations increases, the Sledgehammer will grow with us and help us expand our capabilities."

"The benefits of the Sledgehammer product family fit perfectly with Omnibus Japan's needs. Sledgehammer provides them with the ability to share uncompressed video as well as eliminating the need to shuttle around tape machines. We are honored that Omnibus Japan has chosen Maximum Throughput's products as a key part of their new facility." commented John Miller, Max-T's VP of Worldwide Sales & Marketing.

"It is important for us to manage our projects and media more efficiently, and the Sledgehammer allowed us to build the new workflow with a centralized server. We are constantly working with new file formats and input sources. Now we can work with high quality uncompressed images throughout the process in a more efficient way, without having to move large files around to different systems," continued Norio Suzuki, Chief of Technical Management Section, Omnibus Japan.
