OmniBus Systems Demonstrates New Capabilities for Newsrooms

Company Demonstrated New Feature at IBC 2001 (September 25, 2001)
OmniBus Systems demonstrated new plug-ins to its Desktop Control Suite designed to address the needs of news journalists, who increasingly need to produce finished packages, with complicated mixes of vision and sound carried out at the desktop.

The new OmniBus product will enable them to mix sound and voice-overs seamlessly into a news bulletin package before it is finalized and delivered over a distributed network for subsequent play-out-to-air.

"We have come a long way since we launched Hy-Brow, our frame accurate browse edit application in 1998," says OmniBus Systems' technical director, Ian Fletcher. "The development of desktop browse functionality for newsrooms in the last two to three years represents one of the most significant advances in the broadcast production process and OmniBus has played a key role."

"The integration of browse technology with the established OmniBus media management and automation systems has allowed operators to view browse-quality video with frame-accurate control at their desktop computers," he adds.
