Olympus Shows New Digital Cameras

C-750 Ultra Zoom offers 4 megapixel resolution By Dave Nagel
Olympus has announced four new models in two different classes of digital cameras. These include the new point and shoot Camedia D-390 and D-560 and the more full-featured Camedia C-740 Ultra Zoom and C-750 Ultra Zoom. The cameras are being shown this week at the PMA show in Las Vegas and will begin shipping later this month.

The new Camedia C-750 Ultra Zoom, according to Olympus, is the smallest digital camera available with a 10x optical zoom, offering an equivalent zoom range of 38 mm to 380 mm. It features 4.0 megapixel resolution and uses an aspherical extra dispersion glass lens to distribute light across the camera's CCD sensor evenly. The camera includes a range of automatic and manual features, including a shutter speed range of 1/1,000 second to 16 seconds. It also offers a macro mode and Digital ESP multi-pattern and spot metering; auto white balance; multiple flash settings and exposure compensation. The camera comes with a built-in flash that offers five settings, including slow synch. And it can capture QuickTime video with sound. The C-750 Ultra Zoom will be available in May for $599.

The other new Ultra Zoom model, the C-740, offers features similar to the C-750, but its resolution is 3.2 megapixels. It will be available in April for $499.

Olympus has also announced two new point and shoot digital cameras. The D-560 offers a resolution of 3.2 megapixels, while the D-390 offers 2.0 megapixels. Both cameras are compact and offer built-in flashes with six settings; TruePic technology for enhanced images; optical viewfinders; macro mode; all-glass lens elements; and automatic operation. The D-560 also includes a 3x optical zoom. The D-560 will be available later this month for $299. The D-390 will ship in April for $149. For more information, visit http://www.olympusamerica.com.
