Olympus has introduced four new models in its digital camera lineup, including the new 8 megapixel C-8080 Wide Zoom. Al of the new models are being shown off at the PMA show in Las Vegas this week and are expected to roll out through the next two months.

The C-8080 Wide Zoom is an SLR-style digital camera offering an 8 megapixel resolution and 5x, f2.4/3.5 to f8.0, all-glass lens with three aspherical extra-dispersion elements. It's also Olympus' first model to incorporate the company's new TruePic Image Processor designed to improve image quality and deliver faster overall processing. Other features include 13 direct control buttons; eight customizable settings; support for both CompactFlash and xD-Picture Card media; multi-position, 1.8-inch LCD; USB 2.0 connectivity; AV ports; QuickTime movie capture; and support for PictBridge technology. It will be available later this month for $999.

Also debuting this week are two new Ultra Zoom cameras--the C-770 and C-765--and a 4 megapixel consumer-level camera called the Stylus 410. The C-765 and C-770 both offer resolutions of 4 megapixels, a 10x optical zoom lens (all-glass, f2.8/3.7 to f8 with 11 elements, including two aspherical and one extra-dispersion), TruePic Turbo processing; USB connectivity; AV out; support for xD-Picture Card media; support for PictBridge; 12 shooting modes; customizable settings; and six scene modes. The C-770 also includes MPEG-4 audio and video capture and a metal body with a hot shoe for adding an external flash. Both are expected to ship in April. The C-770 will sell for $599; the C-765 will run $499.

Olympus has also launched a new point and shoot model, the Stylus 410. It offers a 4 megapixel resolution, all-weather microphone and speaker, PictBridge support, 3x optical zoom, Digital ESP multi-pattern and spot metering, auto white balance, exposure compensation, multiple flash settings, macro shooting and support for PictBridge technology. It comes equipped with a 32 MB xD-Picture Card and will be available this month for $379. An underwater housing and other accessories will also be available.
