Oink Ink Radio And King World Win Big At Promax

Sweeps Syndicator/Program Distributor category for its radio creative for King World (July 08, 2005)

Promax, one of the worlds leading electronic media organizations awarded Oink Ink Radio three Promax Awards at the recent Promax/BDA Conference held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. The Promax Awards recognize the years best advertising for promotional work. Oink Ink Radio, a commercial production company with offices in both New York and Los Angeles, swept the Syndicator/Program Distributor category for its radio creative for King World.

Only three trophies were awarded in the category for radio, each to Oink Ink. In the Radio Promotion segment Oink Ink won Gold for Jeopardy!s ?Dueling Banjos and Silver for Wheel of Fortunes ?Antonio. For Radio Promotion Campaign Oink Ink won Gold for Jeopardy!s ?Killians Angels, ?Cab Calloway and ?Accordion spots.

The winning work was all written, produced and directed by Oink Ink for King World Productions Inc., the US reigning syndication leader in television programs, distributing shows such as Jeopardy!, The Oprah Winfrey Show and Everybody Loves Raymond. Gina Vadnais, King World producer, comments, ?Oink jumped right into finding a way to creatively incorporate the theme music into our Jeopardy! spots, which all won Gold. For a long time weve tried to integrate the Jeopardy! music within our commercials because its loved so much that audiences, and the Promax judges apparently, cant help but agree. This Im sure is due to the outstanding job Oink did at mixing and bringing in some serious talent.

Jim Price, producer for Oink Ink Radio, elaborates on the creative process, describing what it took to design the ?Dueling Banjo spot. ?I had the original thought of starting with well-known pieces that would slowly morph into the Jeopardy! theme music, making the point that the show is as much a classic as these. Thats when Chuck Butler of Monster Tracks had the idea of using dueling banjos. From there we handled the timing, pacing, everything, to make it perfect. Swampy Hawkins, another King World producer, adds, ?We go to Oink with an idea and they deliver in big ways! People ask me about those [winning] spots all the time and, after I take most of the credit, I send them to Oink.

The Promax honors add to the long list of awards Oink Ink Radio has under its belt.
