Ohio retrial under way for suspect in 1967 killingOhio retrial in 1967 schoolgirl killing case includes more graphic description, new evidence
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) ' A retrial is under way for a man accused of holding a 14-year-old schoolgirl captive for days in his basement before killing her in 1967.
It's the second time 75-year-old Robert Bowman has been in court recently. He has pleaded not guilty to murder.
Just over a month ago, a jury in Toledo couldn't reach a verdict in his first trial.
Prosecutors were more graphic this time in describing how the girl was found in southern Michigan with her skull shattered and a nail driven into the back of her head.
One new piece of evidence they plan to use is authorities' belief that a dog with white hair might have been at the crime scene. Prosecutors say Bowman had such a dog at the time of the killing.
